Want to crochet a lovely accessory with a soothing rhythm that’s easy to learn? Whether you are working through the crochet courses in the School or are a confident crocheter, the Yona Cowl by Charlotte Lee is a versatile project with a beautiful result. Crocheted in the hand-dyed colourway Gemini, the rich burgundy tones pool and break across the delicate crochet stitches. Airy enough for transitional weather but substantial enough to keep you cozy warm, it balances elegance with everyday wearability.

FROM TOUGH LOVE SOCK TO TRIFECTA DK
The original cowl was crocheted using fingering-weight yarn: 1 SweetGeorgia Party of Five Tough Love Sock mini-skein set plus 1 SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock skein. This combination allowed us to enjoy the rhythmic pattern in 6 shades for a fun, colourful accessory.

When it was time to make a new sample for Charlotte’s beloved Yona Cowl, we wanted to explore a version in SweetGeorgia Trifecta DK. This yarn base has become a favourite our team, featuring a soft hand and lovely shine with a blend of Bluefaced Leicester wool, mohair, and silk. We also love how different a colourway looks in this yarn compared to our easy-care lines such as SweetGeorgia Merino DK. We chose a rich, stunning shade from our Eclipse Collection: Gemini.

Crocheted in SweetGeorgia Trifecta DK, our new sample lets this yarn’s signature stitch definition shine. Worked flat as a long rectangle, from side to side, the two short ends are then seamed together to form a loop. The intricate wave stitch pattern opens up beautifully, allowing the tonal depth of Gemini to shift between deep plum and wine-dark tones across every repeat.
