Are you looking for a project to showcase one of your favourite colours on a garment you’ll reach for in your day-to-day life? For Greta, the Early Light pullover served this purpose perfectly.
We have been deep in the studio working with SweetGeorgia Trifecta yarns and fibres, stunning hand-dyed skeins in a rainbow of colours surrounding us as we work. Looking at the beautiful sample skeins in all those gorgeous colours made Greta crave a whole sweater in one of her favourite shades: Basil. The subtle variegation, the gorgeous shine of the three fibres, the soft yet strong yarn, perfect for a sweater to wear through the seasons.

WHEN A TEST KNIT CALLS YOUR NAME
When Greta saw Samantha Guerin’s call for test knitting the Early Light pullover, she couldn’t get it out of her mind. It jumped ahead of all the other projects in the queue so she could offer to test the pattern. She already knew her next project was going to be in the Basil colourway, and SweetGeorgia Trifecta Fine seemed like the perfect choice of yarn.

The knitting of the sweater couldn’t have been better, as Greta was travelling with family, with long stretches of waiting time in airports and cars. After the top of the sweater with the lace was done, the stockinette body filled hours with quiet enjoyment as she rested after busy days.

Samantha’s pattern was easy to follow and the lace was absolutely a joy to knit. After finishing the body and working the neck ribbing, the fit was just right. The pattern has options for short sleeves and ¾ sleeves, but Greta decided to use up all of her yarn to extend to full-length sleeves. In the end, some SweetGeorgia Trifecta Fine from an earlier Secret Stash Club was used for the sleeve ribbing.
