What happens when you take one mini-skein set and knit the same scarf three different ways? Designer Charlotte Lee’s Hebe Sunset Scarf proves that a single change of main colour can transform a project entirely, creating three scarves with three completely different personalities.
FROM NEW ZEALAND TO YOUR NEEDLES
Named for hebe, a beloved flowering evergreen native to New Zealand, Charlotte Lee’s Hebe Sunset Scarf captures a sense of light and movement. Inspired by her recent trip to New Zealand, the design reflects the shifting colours of the landscape and the delicate shapes of local flora.
The Hebe Sunset Scarf features diagonal bands of delicate leaf lace and garter stitch stripes, with each section catching the light like colours shifting across an evening sky. The pattern uses one SweetGeorgia Trifecta Fine skein paired with a Party of Five Trifecta Fine mini-skein set created specially for this design. In the main version, the Black Raspberry main colourway weaves between panels of soft periwinkle, sage green, and teal, with the warm mauve edges framing each transition.
Three Colours, Three Moods
By simply switching the main colour, each scarf takes on its own distinct mood: one is bold and jewel-toned, with deep magenta anchoring vivid turquoise and blue; one is soft and romantic, peachy coral drifting between blush and mint; and one is cool and dreamy, lavender guiding the eye through muted sage and periwinkle. Same mini-skein set, three completely different personalities.

Hebe Sunset Scarf in SweetGeorgia Trifecta Fine
Equipment
- 1 Circular Knitting Needles in size US 4 / 3.5 mm, 32" / 80 cm long
- 1 Double Pointed Needles in size 6 US / 4mm, for i-cord edge
Materials
- 1 skein SweetGeorgia Trifecta Fine in Black Raspberry
- 1 set SweetGeorgia Party of Five Trifecta Fine Mini-Skein Set in Wild Thistle
Instructions
- To knit the Hebe Sunset Scarf, download a copy of the pattern from the SweetGeorgia Shop.
- Once your gauge is determined, cast on the required number of stitches as in the pattern. Follow directions to knit the garter ridge rows.
- Continue knitting as instructed, switching colourways and pattern directions for each section of the pattern, including: Garter Ridge Rows, Water & Twig Lace Rows, etc.
- Bind off with any method of your choice. Keep one stitch on your needles as the end if you would like to knit the optional i-cord edging. When all four sides are worked, sew the beginning and end of the i-cord together. Bind off.
- Weave in all ends and hand wash scarf in room temperature water and gentle soap. Rinse by swishing gently in clean water, then squeeze out excess moisture in a towel.
- Block stretching the lace to measurements. Once dry, trim ends and enjoy!
