Want to knit a warm accessory to complement your favourite jacket? If you have some experience with cables, the Horseshoe Bay Cowl makes a lovely on-the-go project, and a cozy cowl in your favourite colour.
The Materials
We’ve been loving our new yarn, SweetGeorgia Trifecta DK, and wanted to showcase how beautifully it highlights texture in knitted fabric. So we designed a cowl that uses the entire skein to create an accessory you’ll reach for again and again.
The Horseshoe Bay Cowl
Whether you’re an experienced cable knitter or relatively new to cables, using removable stitch markers to keep track of your cable rows can help you remember exactly when it’s time to cable again.
We chose solid colours for both samples so the cables and bubble texture could really shine. We also enjoyed comparing the two cowls; each yarn base gives the cowl a slightly different feel. Best of all, both cowls still fit into our jacket pockets, making them excellent accessories to have on hand for a walk.
Greta shares from the pattern
“Knit from the bottom up and in the round, this easy-to-memorize cable pattern features a striking braid in the centre with columns of slanted cables on either side. The rest of the cowl is worked in a bubble stitch, which creates a very stretchy and textured fabric that feels incredibly cozy and squishy, making it an accessory you will reach for again and again.”
