Shimmer & Shine with the Sangria Sunset Scarf

Looking for a vibrant project to brighten up your knitting needles? Want a beautiful way to showcase a special skein and brush up on your lace knitting skills? Tabetha Hedrick’s Sangria Sunset scarf is a fun knit for all skill levels. Delicate lace set against soft hand-dyed SeaSilk Lace creates a stunning effect—like the setting sun spreading golden hues across the sky. Light, soft, and sweet, this lovely scarf is a delight to knit and wear.

THE SANGRIA SUNSET PATTERN

The original sample was knit in SweetGeorgia Flaxen Silk Fine, a light fingering-weight yarn that is a linen and silk blend. It is one of our most popular bases for knitters who are looking for something wool-free that produces a crisp yet drapey fabric.

For the newest Sangria Sunset sample, we chose to showcase SweetGeorgia SeaSilk Lace in the mesmerizing Honey Gold colourway. This heavier 2-ply lace weight yarn, with a blend of seacell and silk, has a soft twist and lofty hand that shimmers, drapes, and delights. The colours shine with such depth that it’s hard to put down.

Both yarns offer beautiful drape and stitch definition, and each works wonderfully with this pattern. You can also customize the scarf to suit your personality! For a wider scarf, simply add more stitches in multiples of 10. This scarf is worked flat in two halves and then grafted together in the middle. When winding your skein, divide it in half by weight to use up as much yarn as possible for each half,
