Secret Stash Club Reveal: Hug and a Mug
It’s the end of the year! We have shipped nearly a year’s worth of new colourways for our Secret Stash Club and we’re delighted to share the final reveal for 2024. Introducing our “Hug and a Mug” Club colourway for December! Surround yourself with the soft colours of calm and cozy. Think warm house socks, fluffy blankets, twinkly lights, and relaxing with a cup of coffee that never goes cold.

THE INSPIRATION BEHIND “HUG AND A MUG”
The holidays are a wonderful time, but also such an intense time. At every corner, there are opportunities to create beautiful memories and experiences. A few years ago, I was reminded about the importance of taking time to spend with those you care about. I think about it every day. Rather than running around this holiday, trying to do all the things, I’m hoping for something a little different.
All I wish for this holiday season and into the future is more simple moments to share a hug and a mug. To meet a friend for coffee, greet them with a smile and a hug, and sit down for a good catchup and convo over a mug of something delicious. A plain old coffee or easy cup of tea. Something so simple, but so satisfying to the soul. That’s it.
Please, imagine… you and I sitting down for a cup of coffee (or tea), by the fireside of a cozy cabin cafe, while the snow falls outside. I’ll listen to your stories about your latest project and share the latest about the hat that I knit that doesn’t fit, the socks that I made for the kids, or the handwoven scarf that I forgot to take measurements of. It’s simply the comfort of both listening and being heard.
These soft, gentle and nearly neutral colours are exactly what I want to surround myself with this holiday season.

PROJECT IDEAS
For the Yarn
Our December Club was dyed on our deliciously soft cashmere and oh so delicately sparkly SweetGeorgia CashLuxe Spark yarn base. While I love pampering feet and making fun socks, I feel like it would be nicer to make this yarn and colour into something that you could see, touch, and feel.

Charlotte made a crochet pair of Fingerless Gloves — a free pattern on Ravelry by Maaike van Koert (project info at the bottom of the post). A knitted version would also look great — with a single strand, or double up the yarn to make a worsted-weight yarn. It would make a really nice and quick-to-make project. You could also combine it with a second, more vibrant skein of rose or lilac to make a shawl that you can wrap around your neck like a scarf. Cozy up!

For the Fibre
For this month’s Fibre Club, it was dyed on SweetGeorgia Targhee. It is such a bouncy, poofy fibre, it immediately makes me think of warm, insulating yarn that could be great for a hat or wristwarmers. Whenever I spin Targhee, I feel like the yarn is never slinky or drapey… it’s definitely more springy. And when I think I’ve spun fine, the yarn always seems to puff up after wet-finishing. This makes me think that spinning a nice 2-ply DK yarn would be a good use here.
Some spinners also love Targhee as a sock yarn and it lends a bit of cushiony softness to a handspun, handknit sock.

These colours are subtle and complementary, so you are welcome to mix up the colours to get an even softer, more blended look. I’m envisioning marled plies, heathered yarns, or even the “raindrop” yarn that we learned about this year in the School of SweetGeorgia.
