If you are in the Northern Hemisphere, you have noticed the season has shifted. There’s a chill in the air, leaves on the ground, and the feeling of wanting to wrap ourselves in something warm and cozy is all we can think about. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the beginning of this cozy season than with a weave-along. If this is your first time hearing about our Winterful Weave-Along 2026, here’s a little background information on what it is, how we do it and where to join.
Our Weave-Alongs
Every November, we invite members of the SweetGeorgia + Co Community on a seven-week weaving journey. We all work on the same pattern or structure, sparking engaging conversations about how yarns behave, how colours interact, and how different looms affect our projects.
We always choose patterns that suit many looms and skill levels, something with a gentle challenge that’s still friendly for beginners. And for those who need help pairing colours, we offer a variety of kits so everyone can find a palette that appeals to them.
And no make-along is complete without community! That’s why we host virtual meet-ups and have a dedicated Weaving channel for sharing pictures and conversations. These connections are always warm, supportive, and inspirational.

Winterful Weave-Along 2026: Waffle Weave
Earlier this year, Felicia Lo released the Weaving Waffle Weave course at the School of SweetGeorgia. Many members joined in to weave the Sunday Morning Waffle Weave Towels and the Baker Street Scarf, the two patterns included with the course. The towels, made on a 4-shaft loom with 8/2 cotton yarn, introduce us to waffle weave, which blends plain and twill theory to create a wonderfully squishy, textured fabric. In the course, Felicia also shows how to tweak the draft for any number of shafts, tailor the cell depth, adjust float lengths and use waffle weave as a block weave.

Winterful Weave-Along 2026: Patterns
This brings us to the Baker Street Scarf, woven with 7 shafts and SweetGeorgia Trifecta Fine. It’s one of those designs that had the whole SweetGeorgia Studio swooning! But not every weaver has an 8-shaft loom. So we teamed up with some of our favourite designers to create patterns for every weaver.

Hedgerow Lane Scarf
Our rigid heddle instructor, Amanda Wood, shares how to create waffle weave in her Weaving Lace on a Rigid Heddle Loom course. She designed this scarf for a rigid heddle loom, using three colours to enhance the illusion of deep waffle-weave cells, adding colour, contrast, and texture all in one design!
- Woven on a rigid heddle loom with a minimum of 8″ / 20.3 cm of weaving width.
- 5 ½” / 14 cm wide and 68 ½” / 184.2 cm long, plus 2″ / 5 cm of fringe on each end.

Cobblestone Road Scarf
Leslie Green weaves many of our samples, often suggesting new ways to use colour and treadling variations. When we asked her to design a 4-shaft waffle weave pattern, she created a pattern that blends Fibonacci sequences and autumn tones, crisp yet cozy. This pattern is easy to memorize and treadle, making it an easy pattern to weave!
- Woven on a 4-shaft loom with a minimum of 12″ / 30.5 cm of weaving width.
- 8 ½” / 21.6 cm wide and 68″ / 172.7 cm long, plus 6″ / 15 cm of fringe on each end.

Baker Street Scarf
Felicia designed the 7-shaft Baker Street pattern for the course. In the lessons, she shares samples of how she adjusted the draft to reduce floats while keeping the waffle weave beautifully deep, which demonstrates how small changes to our draft can create big changes in our cloth. The jewel tones add visual interest without taking attention away from the appeal of the thick, squishy, textured fabric.
- Woven on a 8-shaft loom with a minimum of 12″ / 30 cm of weaving width.
- 7 ¼” / 18.4 cm wide and 64 ½” / 163.8 cm long, plus 3″ / 7.6 cm of fringe on each end.

Winterful Weave-Along 2026: Yarn
We adore our Trifecta yarns (and fibres). The mix of BFL, Mohair, and Silk is perfect for socks, colourwork sweaters, and handwoven scarves. For waffle weave to shine, the fibre needs to shrink and cling to itself to create that signature collapsed texture, so superwash and easy-care yarns should be avoided. We also wanted a soft yarn with lustre that showed off colour beautifully! SweetGeorgia Trifecta Fine was the perfect match!
We’ve put together six kits if you need a little help choosing colour combinations:
