In this episode of the SweetGeorgia Show, Felicia speaks with Steve Ashton, known as the Wizard of BC within the CSM Knitting Society. He wrote CSM 911, serving as a manual for circular sock knitting. Together, they discuss the craft, its history, and their shared enthusiasm for cranking.
Steve Ashton discovered circular sock machine knitting through his now-retired company, Freedom Kilts, in Victoria, BC. Because clients required knitted kilt hosiery, he acquired a CSM. Driven by curiosity and a lack of market guidance on operating antique machines, his interest grew into a passion. He now travels around the world, sharing his knowledge in the hope that others might also find a love for CSM knitting.
