As the seasons change, we reach back into the sock drawer, and those knitted stitches fill us with warmth. A circular sock machine lets us quickly create knitted tubes, and once you’ve built up your skills, you can start cranking fully hemmed socks on your circular sock machine (CSM) in a rainbow of colours. If you’ve worked through the basic pattern and are looking for your next CSM adventure, discover Felicia Lo’s new Classic Cabin Socks pattern.
CRANKING THE CLASSIC CABIN SOCKS
With the skills you learned in the Circular Sock Knitting: Foundations course, you may be ready to crank your next favourite pair. The Classic Cabin Socks were inspired by the coziness of a rustic cabin on a cold day, with warm socks on your feet. They bring back that slow weekend feeling of relaxing, warm and snug, at home.
These socks are knit from the cuff down and start with a hung hem. Both the heel and toe use the “No Wrap Heel” method. The heel is worked deep, and the toe is worked over half of the needles.

For the sample socks, Felicia chose our soft and strong SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock yarn. She used Silver as the Main Colour (MC) and Birch as Complementary Colour 1 (CC1), then added a fun stripe of Cassis as Complementary Colour 2 (CC2). You only need a small amount of CC2, so you can pick your favourite contrasting shade in a SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock Micro-Skein.

We named this combo Winter Porch because it reminded us of a sunny winter day spent cozied up in your woolens on the porch. We also put together a few other combos that shine with this pattern. Blue Canoe (MC), Birch (CC1), and Mandarin (CC2) take us to a cool Campfire Morning, and Garden Gate stays close to home with Sage (MC), Snowfall (CC1), and Chili Pepper (CC2).

(note: this photo shows CC colours as mini-skeins, however micro-skeins better match the yardage needed)
