Secret Stash Club Knitting: The Spring Winds Shawl

Our June 2026 Secret Stash Club project is all things sunshine and warm. For this month’s sample, we paired our citrusy Lemonade Stand Club colourway with the breezy Spring Winds shawl by Claire Walls. It’s a combination that feels like the best parts of the season: light, playful, and full of warmth. THE CLUB COLOURWAY: LEMONADE STAND

Inspired by summer bike rides and sunshine-filled days, our June 2026 Secret Stash Club yarn captures the simple summer pleasure of a neighbourhood lemonade stand. Every year on Canada Day (July 1), Felicia’s family rides their bikes down to Steveston Village for the annual Canada Day parade and “Salmon Festival”. It’s usually a hot, sunny day and the 10-minute ride is always improved when they stop at the little kid-run lemonade stands along the way.

Featuring a light palette of sunshine yellow with hints of lime green and grapefruit, this Club colourway is available on both yarn and fibre where Bluefaced Leicester is the star. Read more about the colourway story at the June colourway reveal post »

KNITTING THE SPRING WINDS SAMPLE

The Spring Winds design by Claire Walls was originally launched as part of our Spring with SweetGeorgia, Vol 3 pattern collection. The pieces in this collection capture the very essence of play, weaving vibrant, candy-like colours and delicate, muted hues into a gorgeous harmony.

With a beautiful texture and a simple, melodic stitch pattern, the Spring Winds triangular shawl is a dreamy spring and summer accessory. For this version, sample knitter Deborah Dar Woon adjusted the project slightly due to the difference in yardage. The original pattern uses SweetGeorgia Mohair Silk Sock, which has more yardage than the SweetGeorgia Trifecta Fine yarn used in the sample. See the notes listed in the project recipe below.

Spring Winds Shawl featuring the “Lemonade Stand” Club Yarn

Equipment

• 1 Circular Knitting Needles in size 2.5 US / 3 mm, 40” / 100 cm long

Materials

• 1 skein SweetGeorgia BFL Fine in Lemonade Stand
• 1 skein SweetGeorgia Trifecta Fine in Sea Glass *see notes about yardage

Instructions

• To knit the Spring Winds shawl, download a copy of the pattern — available at the SweetGeorgia shop.
• Follow directions for the garter tab cast-on using the MC, then follow the required number of repeats for the setup and stockinette rows of the pattern.
• Continue following the knitting pattern's slip stitch brick instructions and stockinette section instructions. See the notes below for the adjustments made due to the yardage difference from the original pattern.
• Weave in ends and wet block. This will help to open up the pattern design and create a nice drape in the fabric. Enjoy!
  

Notes

Notes from our lovely sample knitter, Deborah: Since the SweetGeorgia Trifecta Fine skein has less yardage than Mohair Silk Sock (used in the original pattern design), the Sea Glass skein ran out toward the end. Deb instead only knit the garter repeat two times in total before binding off with the Lemonade Stand Club yarn.
