Secret Stash Club Knitting: Jaunty Shawl
For our March Club sample, the delightfully soft yarn base set the tone for everything. We wanted a pattern that would highlight the subtle hand-dyed variations while also being a joy to snuggle up in. Andrea Mowry’s Jaunty shawl was a perfect fit. Adaptable to a variety of yarn weights, it’s an enjoyable and relaxing project. The overall look is elegant and calming—ideal for when you want a gentle pop of colour without overwhelming brightness.

THE DUSTY LILAC COLOUR STORY
Our March Secret Stash Club colourway, Dusty Lilac, is a beautifully soft and muted blend of purples, featuring gentle undertones of grey and a touch of brown. The yarn displays a harmonious mix of lavender, mauve, and silvery lilac shades, creating a subtle, tonal effect that feels both cosy and sophisticated. Incredibly versatile, it is perfect as a chromatic neutral that pairs effortlessly with both understated and vibrant colours.

KNITTING THE JAUNTY SHAWL
As Andrea Mowry shares about the Jaunty shawl design “the rhythmic stitch pattern offers a soothing flow, while the simple construction and adaptable sizing means you can use what you’ve got.” The shallow triangle design is knit sideways in Half-Fishermen’s Rib, and we love the adaptability of this pattern.
SweetGeorgia sample knitter Irene knit this shawl using US 2.5 / 3.00 mm needles. By weighing the skein before starting, you can make the most of your yardage: simply knit the increase section until you’ve used approximately 45% of your yarn, then start the decrease section. Irene ended this sample with 19 grams left.

If you’re interested in making a larger shawl, additional skeins of the Dusty Lilac colourway are available in our online shop while supplies last.
