Exploring Hand-Dyed Colour and Texture with the Hamilton Sweater

A timeless knitwear piece, the Hamilton sweater design by Josée Paquin of UandIKnit beautifully showcases the depth and richness of hand-dyed yarn. Part of a collection of samples knit for h+h Americas 2025, this design was chosen to highlight our SweetGeorgia Merino Worsted yarn knit in a sweater garment. The easy-care Merino brings out the gentle shifts of colour, adding stunning visual interest and a unique character to each piece. With a classic silhouette and subtle texture, this design offers both comfort and style. Whether you’re dressing up for an outing or enjoying a quiet day at home, this sweater’s elegant simplicity and artisan-crafted yarn make it a true favourite for knitters and wearers alike!

COZY UP IN HAND-DYED MERINO WORSTED

Soft, warm, and elegant, the Hamilton is perfect for layering on cool days or wearing as as statement piece. Designed so it can be worn with a little or a lot of positive ease, this sweater is luxuriously cozy—perfect for any outing or for cuddling up indoors.

As Josée shared about this pattern, she had wanted to create this design for quite some time. Worked seamlessly from the top down, the Hamilton sweater’s ribbing and purled stitches create a perfect V. Choose your favourite hand-dyed SweetGeorgia Merino Worsted colourway and enjoy knitting your next favourite garment!

Notes

Regarding the yardage listed for this project, Deborah followed the size 3 directions.
Pattern information from the designer UandIKnit — Josée Paquin:
This design is available in English and French and is part of ‘Strong and Free’, a Canadian-themed collection created in collaboration with Heidi Kirrmaier (HeidiKdesigns).
I wanted to create this design for quite some time. I truly love that the ribbing and the purled stitches create that perfect V! This sweater is flattering on all body shapes and can be worn with a little or a lot of positive ease.
Worked from the top-down, in one piece and seamlessly. Starting with the back to the underarm, followed by the front, both pieces are then joined to knit the body in the round. Stitches are picked up to knit the sleeves in the round.
Note that the texture stitch is charted only.
