Stash-Busting Style: Knitting the Transmission Hat with DK Yarn

Looking for a hat that challenges your knitting skills plus uses up your stash of DK weight yarns? We’re delighted to share our knit sample of the Transmission hat, part of the Frequential: Six Waveform Hats collection by fabulous hat designer Woolly Wormhead.

KNITTING THE TRANSMISSION HAT

Woolly Wormhead’s Transmission pattern includes both a beanie and a slouch version. We chose to knit a sample of the slouch version, combining SweetGeorgia Merino DK as the main colour with a micro-skein of SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock held double for the complementary colour.

Any of the six hats in the collection are designed to use up one skein of DK weight yarn and about 20 yds / 18 m of the complementary colour. We love this potential for creating fun colour combinations. It’s a great option to combine that special skein with something from your yarn stash. However, if you’re looking for hand-dyed colour ideas, we have you covered with some suggestions below.

Notes

Pattern information from Woolly Wormhead:
Worked flat from the bottom up and seamed at the centre back, Transmission features a subtle wavelength pattern around the Hat. Worked in DK weight yarn, the pattern can easily be adjusted for a range of sizes by changing needle size, gauge or yarn.
This pattern is worked flat, knit vertically from the bottom up, and seamed at the back. The pattern is graded by gauge. Slight variations in yarn weight, needle size and/or gauge will be sufficient to change the size; swatching is advised. Two different Hat styles are included – beanie & slouch.
