The SweetGeorgia Show // S5 E14: Our 20-year Anniversary

It feels like it’s gone by so quickly, but this year marks an incredible milestone—20 years of SweetGeorgia! September 9, 2025 is officially our 20th anniversary for SweetGeorgia Yarns, our hand-dyed yarn company. Looking back, it’s a reminder of how this journey has been about transformation—not just for the business, but for me, and hopefully, for many of you as well. This is a story about finding your way, the power of making things by hand, and the transformative magic of colour and community.

Thank you to our SweetGeorgia Team

To our amazing team of artisans, creatives, multicraftual makers and fibre folks: thank you.

Thank you for your hands, which create the beautiful, unapologetic colour that we are known for. I appreciate your care and hard work, which ensures that every skein, every video, every blog post is something we are proud of. Thank you for your dedication, which has powered us through many, many challenges and growth.

You are the people who help bring light and comfort, joy and love into the lives of makers around the world. Your work matters so much.

On a deeply personal note, thank you for building a business so resilient that it allowed me to be a mother. Our team weathered the transitions as I had my two children, and your strength and stability created the space for me to be present with my family. That is a gift I will always be grateful for. We wouldn’t be here, celebrating our 20th anniversary, without you.

Thank you to our amazing SweetGeorgia Community

Our community. While our team dyes the yarn, you are the ones who give it life. You are the ones who transform a single thread into something that brings warmth, comfort, and beauty into the world. Thank you for being on this journey with us for 20 years.

I recently read a comment from a member of our school who said that it was the best online educational experience she’d ever had, especially as someone who often felt unwelcome in traditional craft spaces. That right there is everything. That is why we do what we do. We want to create a space where everyone feels welcome, where you feel like you belong, no matter what craft it is you’re doing. Whether you’re knitting or crocheting or spinning or weaving or dying, these things are not weird. These things matter. These things are meaningful and there is a space where you belong.

Our mission has always been to bring light to people’s lives through colour and craft. Through this work, I have personally experienced moments of transformation and pure awe, and it’s something I want everyone to experience. So, I invite you to continue this journey with us. Join our new community, take a class, pick up that skein of yarn you’ve been saving, and keep making. Keep sharing your stories.

Thank you for an incredible twenty years. Here’s to the next.
