Secret Stash Club Knitting: Every Berry Tee

There’s something magical about knitting a summer tee that’s both simple and stunning. And this month’s Secret Stash Club knitting project, the Every Berry tee, is just that. Elevated by a splash of cables and lace on the back, an A-line silhouette, and a softly rolled hem, there is sweetness and charm in every stitch. The real showstopper, though, is the yarn itself: swirling shades of blue, green, and purple flow together like water in motion, with unexpected pops of colour that evoke the wonder of discovering hidden sea life beneath the surface. Each detail invites you to savour the beauty of summer knitting, one wave at a time.

THE “BREATHING UNDERWATER” YARN

As Felicia shares at the colour reveal video and post:

Recently, I experienced a very vivid dream where I found myself being led into an underwater scene by the head coach of my kids’ ski team. She was walking ahead of me, calmly, with a Mona Lisa smile and turning back to let me know everything was going to be ok and to just feel free to walk and take a breath. And so I took a breath underwater. There was no choking or gasping, no nothing. Everything was fine as long as I took a long, slow, deep breath. And then I got to enjoy the landscape around me, where I could see light filtering in through the water and the plants and fish around me. It was actually quite nice, as long as I took time to breathe slowly.

This colourway is just gorgeous. The transitions and movement of colour feel like water swirling around me, flooded with weight and light. And the hits of green and purple feel like the surprise of fish and sea life in the water.

THE “EVERY BERRY” PATTERN

Tabetha Hedrick’s design, Every Berry, is a basic tee turned into something a little sweeter. The delight is in the details, such as an A-line silhouette, softly rolled hem, and a splash of cables and lace on the back.

This tee is worked flat in pieces and seamed together, with a garter stitch selvedge edge for smoother seaming. Charlotte knit size 2 of this sample which used 2 skeins of the “Breathing Underwater” Flaxen Silk Fine yarn. Note that one skein was used to knit the front piece, and one for the back piece, however you can also choose to alternate skeins throughout the piece for a different colour result.

Every Berry Tee in the “Breathing Underwater” Club Colour

Instructions

  • Download a copy of the Every Berry knitting pattern which is available at our online shop and on Ravelry.
  • Starting with the back piece, cast on the required number of stitches for your selected size. Working from the bottom up, follow the a-line shaping, armhole, and Back Lace pattern instructions. Bind off as directed to complete the back piece.

  • Repeat similar instructions for knitting the tee's front piece.
  • Follow pattern directions to knit the two sleeves.
  • Block pieces to schematic measurements. Sew shoulder seams, sleeves into armholes, and side and underarm seams.

  • Follow directions to pick up stitches and knit around the neckline to finish the neckline on the tee. Bind off loosely. Weave in ends and enjoy!

Notes

This delightful pullover tee was the perfect spring and summer companion for our May Secret Stash Club colourway, Breathing Underwater. With a sweet lace detail on the back and relaxing stockinette stitch throughout the remainder of the piece, the design allows the delicately nuanced colours in the yarn truly shine.
Note: 2 skeins were used to knit this size 2 sample. Yardage adjustments may be required.

Joining Crochet Granny Squares – It’s Easier Than I Imagined!

I recently learned how to continuously “join as you go” (JAYG) for crochet granny squares and I LOVE this technique. And so on today’s Taking Back Friday video , I want to share an update on my Jethro Cardigan project and how I joined the granny squares. As I shared in a previous vlog episode , I’ve been making crochet squares out of three different sets of our Superwash DK Party of Five mini-skein sets. I finished making the 36 granny squares needed, which no two are identical. However, after crocheting all of the squares, I was stuck on how to join them together. They simply sat finished in a pile for a couple of weeks. Luckily, Tanis provided resources with her pattern and one of them was for the “Join as You Go” tutorial. It was fantastic. I’m so proud and excited that I’m almost done. I love how it is turning out, and playing with colours has been the most fun part of this project. Winterful Weave-Along: Weaving WIPs

Part of the fun of any make-along is to connect with fellow makers — to share your progress, ask questions, and be inspired by others’ work.
