Deliciously soft yarn, simple stitches, and an easy construction merge into an enchantingly classic knit that you’ll love to wear year-round.

Fun for knitters of all levels, cast on the Asante cowl free knitting pattern By Lynn Di Cristina

For this pattern update, we drew inspiration from our SweetGeorgia Hexa Hue Mini-Skein set, which offers a complementary gradient of hues. To get the additional yardage needed, we turned to individual SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock Mini-Skeins. We knit one sample using the Eclipse Set plus assembled a fun option for knitters who prefer a lighter palette.

  • Eclipse Set: SweetGeorgia Hexa Hue Mini-Skein set in Eclipse + SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock mini-skeins, 1 each in Peacock (C1) and Azurite (C8)
  • Enlighten Set: SweetGeorgia Hexa Hue Mini-Skein set in Enlighten + SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock mini-skeins, 1 each in Glacier (C1) and Grapefruit (C7)

Instructions

  • Download the Asante Cowl pattern for free, available from our online shop and Ravelry. The pattern is originally written for a worsted-weight yarn, however we held two strands together of our fingering weight Tough Love Sock yarn to make a similar gauge.
  • With colour 1 and using smaller needle, cast on the required number of stitches. Place a marker to identify the beginning of the round and work the edge ribbing.
  • Switch to larger needle and stockinette stitch, following the instructions as to where to change yarn colours.
  • For the final edge, change to smaller needles and work the ribbing as instructed.
  • Bind off using a stretchy bind off. Weave in yarn ends, block, and let dry fully. Enjoy!
