In this episode of the SweetGeorgia Show, Felicia has a conversation with Kim Werker about books for makers, how things are made, and why that matters today. Kim returns to the show to share her journey of building Nine Ten Publications, an independent Canadian publishing house, from the ground up, devoted entirely to creativity. With a funding model that challenges traditional publishing, she is deeply committed to supporting Canadian voices and making books the right way, even when it is the harder path. She is also one of Felicia’s longest friends, which makes this conversation all the more special.
Kim Werker is a publisher and CEO with over twenty years of experience in the crafts. She has written or co-authored seven books, edited many others, and previously founded an online crochet magazine. She also served as editor of Interweave Crochet and has taught and spoken at conferences across North America. In 2020, she co-founded Nine Ten Publications, which she now runs from her home in Vancouver, BC.
