Secret Stash Club Reveal: Arctic Air

Inspired by a magical morning in the Yukon, I’m so excited to share our special January 2026 colourway with you: Arctic Air! Each skein is hand dyed with shifting hues of deep teal, icy turquoise, and soft blue-green, reminiscent of the aurora’s gentle movement across a winter sky. Evoking the magic of that early morning light, this month’s Secret Stash Club yarn invites you to wrap yourself in the tranquil beauty of the North.

THE ARCTIC AIR INSPIRATION

This past November, I visited the Yukon for the first time ever. The weather was forecast to be a nice, crisp -15°C / 59°F and lightly snowy. Absolutely perfect. While I didn’t expect it, one of my hopes was to see the Northern Lights. Then one morning at 7 am, for about 15 minutes, we managed to catch some very faint Aurora activity.

Not having any experience with the Northern Lights prior to this, I guess I was expecting to see a spectacular vibrant blaze of purple and green light across the sky… but instead, we saw some very wispy grey clouds. To the naked eye, they really didn’t look like much… it just looked cloudy. But then when I held my phone camera up to the sky, the grey clouds completely transformed into these violet and emerald ribbons in the star-filled sky.

This brief moment of awe reminded me that maybe amazing, spectacular, and vibrant experiences are happening all around me… and I just need to pause to notice the magic.

PROJECT IDEAS

Our SweetGeorgia Trifecta Fine is the perfect blend for warm, wooly projects like hats, mitts, and scarves. Most recently, I’ve been weaving with this yarn to make an 8-shaft waffle weave scarf and it’s so decadent. The waffle patterns will be coming out shortly but we also wove with Trifecta Fine for our Shoreline Checks scarf and loved the feeling of this yarn in a plain weave cloth.

As well, Trifecta will knit and crochet up beautifully. Try holding the Arctic Air yarn together with a fuzzy yarn to make it even more cozy.

Plying Tips for Handspun Yarn Success

WHAT is Plying? Plying is when bobbins containing handspun singles are removed from the wheel, placed on a lazy kate, and then subjected to more twist.  To achieve a balanced yarn, more twist is added in the opposite direction of the first twist. This is not always the case, however. Some designer yarns add the second twist in the same direction as the first twist.
