Halo & Hue: The Field Sweater’s Dreamy Texture in Hand-Dyed Yarns
There’s nothing quite like cozying up in a hand-knit sweater that wraps you in warmth and softness, and our Field Sweater sample does just that. Designed by Camilla Vad, this sample was knit earlier this year—part of a collection we shared at 2025 h+h Americas. This collection was created to showcase the magic of SweetGeorgia’s hand-dyed yarns. The gentle halo from SweetGeorgia Silk Mist yarn floats over every stitch, lending a dreamy, ethereal quality that perfectly complements the intricate yoke design. Paired with the cozy embrace of SweetGeorgia Trifecta Fine, the result is a garment that feels as inviting as it looks—light, airy, and irresistibly soft.

KNITTING THE FIELD SWEATER
Knitting Camilla Vad’s popular Field Sweater was an absolute dream every step of the way. Knit from the top down and seamlessly except for the underarms, this sweater features a beautiful grain pattern cascading down the yoke.
This project was chosen to highlight the combination of the light softness of SweetGeorgia Silk Mist with the wooliness of SweetGeorgia Trifecta Fine. Together they create the ultimate coziness in a sweater. Every detail is highlighted by the luminous colour and texture of the yarn.
Double-Stranded Knitting
Holding two strands of yarn together when knitting is known as double-stranded knitting. It provides a fun way to play with colour and texture in your handmade pieces. By combining different coloured yarns, you can create a marled colour effect in your finished piece. Choose a high contrast pairing and have fun creating a strong, speckled look. Or if you’re looking to highlight the texture, select matching colours of two different fibre blend yarns.

Felicia explores this technique in her double-stranded knitting vlog episode, demonstrating how hue and contrast can dramatically change the overall look. In addition to the video, Felicia created a helpful Colour Mixing Guide for you to download. Discover nearly 50 double-stranded colour combinations and choose the ones you love best!
