The Lacy Lakes Bias Scarf: Your Next Knitting Machine Pattern

Whether it’s your very first machine knitting project or your hundredth, nothing compares to creating something that looks beautifully complex but is delightfully simple. Meet the Lacy Lakes Bias Scarf. One of three patterns included in the Machine Knitting: Basic course, this scarf brings together elegance and intrigue, yet it is easy enough for beginners.

This course is taught by Barb Barone, an avid knitter and dedicated online instructor. Barb’s passion for machine knitting shines through in everything she does, from swatching and researching to decoding patterns. She’s always exploring the question, “Can this be made on my machine?” and sharing her discoveries to help you grow your skills.

Machine Knitting: Basics

If you’ve never used a knitting machine before, this course is designed just for you. Using the Silver Reed LK 150, Barb guides you through every step, exploring the machine’s features, offering helpful troubleshooting tips, and demonstrating a variety of ways to cast on, bind off, and work increases and decreases. It’s a great way to build confidence and skills from the very beginning.

This scarf is a perfect example of using your skills in fresh and exciting ways to create texture and interest in the fabric. The eyelets, offset by decreases, not only shape the bias of this corner-to-corner scarf but also add a simple, yet striking lace detail. Barb demonstrates the entire process in the course, so you’ll know exactly what to do at every step.

The Lacy Lakes Bias Scarf is knit in SweetGeorgia Cashluxe Fine in Ultra Violet and Starlight.

Everything is in the name, lacy and knit on the bias. Unlike the larger Waterfalls Bias shawl, this scarf uses just one skein of SweetGeorgia Cashluxe Fine in Ultra Violet (also shown in
Starlight). It’s perfect for draping over your shoulders on a cool summer night or a beautiful way to use up your stash of one-skein treasures. Using only one skein also means it’s a quick project and is great for gift-giving.
