Secret Stash Club Reveal: One Day at Venice
We’re thrilled to unveil July’s Secret Stash Club yarn—a hand-dyed colourway that captures the golden glow and breezy spirit of a vintage California summer. Inspired by “old school, retro beach vibes,” this month’s “One Day at Venice” colourway blends apricot sunsets with turquoisey-teal waters, evoking carefree days by the shore. The heart of this colour is a cherished memory: a joyful California adventure, celebrating over a decade of friendship. From sun-soaked strolls between Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach to magical moments and mishaps, this yarn is a tribute to laughter, connection, and the simple magic of summer days spent together.
THE STORY BEHIND “ONE DAY AT VENICE”
The original inspiration for this month’s colourway was “old school, vintage, and retro beach vibes” with the golden, apricot-coloured sunset and the turquoisey-teal water. It’s meant to be lighthearted and breezy, summer fun, and relaxed.

This colour is 100% inspired by our epic trip to California last October to celebrate 10+ years of friendship with three other families that we met during prenatal classes. We took a trip — 16 of us (8 kids and 8 adults) — to California and on our last day in Los Angeles, we took the kids to Sloomoo Institute (a make-your-own slime shop), went for tacos, and then walked from Santa Monica Pier to Venice Beach.
The whole day was full of magic and mishaps… of course a container of new slime melted in the heat of the rental van and exploded goopy neon yellow slime everywhere! But besides that, I had at least some amazing experiences on that last day at the beach.

PROJECT IDEAS
Incredibly, my daughter has nearly the same size feet as me now! She asked for new socks and picked this colourway because she said she was the only kid who walked all the way to Muscle Beach on our trip, so she earned this pair. So, I cranked her some new socks on 64-stitches around. I love how the colours pooled in this gentle stripey way! With different stitch counts and tension, your colours may pool differently.
Using long, asymmetric rows of garter stitch is a great way of breaking up the possibility of pooling. Anita knit a gorgeous 2-skein sample shawl using Cartucha Knits’ pattern “Afetos”. Anita used a skein of SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock in Natural together with her club colourway skein.
