Knitting the Wild Orange Shawl with New Enlighten Colourways
Embrace the vibrant spirit of spring and summer with our new Enlighten Collection colourways, perfect for your next knitting project! Inspired by the hand-dyed hues, we envisioned a light, breezy accessory that beautifully showcases the gradient of colours. The airy lacework of Tabetha Hedrick’s Wild Orange shawl design was the ideal complement to these stunning shades, resulting in a delicate, versatile shawl you’ll love wearing all season long.

THE ENLIGHTEN COLLECTION COLOURWAYS
Calling to be made into radiant spring and summer projects, Enlighten is filled with a palette of light and airy hues. Ranging from soft yellow and peachy-orange to gentle pinks, lavender, frothy blues, and sea glass greens, this new collection is part of our SweetGeorgia Colour System. Each hue captures the essence of spring light, moments of summer joy, and the magic of a free spirit.

We took six of the eight colourways from this collection and created a special SweetGeorgia Hexa Hue mini-skein set. Each set includes six mini-skeins of Tough Love Sock fingering-weight yarn, offering a fun opportunity to sample our latest colour collections. Which is exactly what we were inspired to do!

KNITTING THE WILD ORANGE SHAWL
Tabetha Hedrick’s Wild Orange shawl pattern has a deceptively simple repeat and construction. The diamond lace design fans across the fabric of this triangular shawl shape. Using only one of the SweetGeorgia Hexa Hue sets, this beautiful shawl was knit by our kind sample knitter, Irene.

Wild Orange Shawl in Enlighten Colourways
Equipment
-
1 Circular Knitting Needles in size US 6 / 4mm
Materials
- 1 set Hexa Hue Mini-Skein Tough Love Sock in Enlighten
Instructions
-
Download a copy of the Wild Orange pattern, available at the SweetGeorgia online shop.
-
Follow the pattern set up directions and CO 5 stitches starting with the Creamsicle mini-skein colourway, working all of the set up rows.
-
Change to the lace pattern instructions. Based on your desired length of shawl and your gauge, switch through the next colourways in the mini-skein set. You can either opt to maximize the amount of yardage of your yarn, or instead switch at the end of a lace pattern repeat.
-
When at your desired shawl length with enough yarn left to finish the remainder of the shawl, work Row 1 of the lace pattern once. Then bind off the stitches loosely.
-
Weave in your yarn ends and block the shawl as desired, opening up the lace work detail. Let dry and enjoy!
