Flicker & Flame Hats
These hats have been so much fun to knit, they practically knit themselves! The Flicker & Flame hat pattern is designed by Andrea Mowry of Drea Renee Knits. The pattern includes instructions to knit either a sportweight or a worsted weight version of the hat. The hat itself features stranded colourwork in a pattern that is easy to follow and remember. It’s done before you know it!

For these hats, I chose analogous colourways — a palette of blues to purples and a palette of warm brown, reds, oranges, and pinks. The purple/blue hat is more high contrast and so the stranded colourwork pattern shows more clearly. The brown/pink hat is much more low contrast and the effect is definitely more subtle, but no less pretty.

This is the current version of the hat that I’m knitting… a bit of a more high contrast palette with teal blue contrasting against pink/orange. It’s more like a complementary colourway with a twist. I’m looking forward to seeing how this comes together!
